Message from the University President

I was recently talking with an Ateneo graduate. She was very happy about the successful business she and other friends, mostly from the Ateneo, had established. They had good sales and were possibly going international. Moreover, it was a profitable business that was also creating a wonderful livelihood for poor women of Payatas. She spoke with gratitude about the business skills she learned at the Ateneo. But it was really the total formation, she said, the excellent professional skills, a deep view of the world and values from philosophy, theology, literature, the arts, student organizations – that gave her the skills, the heart and the creativity to succeed.

These pages will tell you more about the unique educational experience at the Ateneo de Manila. It comes from a 450-year tradition of Jesuit education that has always prized excellence and leadership, love of God, love of country, and love for our people. It is a tradition that formed our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, and many other leaders of our nation. It is a tradition of inviting you to discover your gifts and to be the best that you can be. It is a tradition of giving back in service, because much has been given to you and so your heart invites you to give back to others.
