Subject Advisory on the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCOV)
To keep the community informed on the risks associated with the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by 2019-nCOV and to protect the well-being of our community and families, we are closely monitoring the reports on the status of persons under investigation (PUI) in the Philippines and in the region. Even as updated reports affirm that there are no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection in the country, we enjoin the Ateneo community to remain vigilant and mindful of the universal precautions issued by the World Health Organization, that include hand and respiratory hygiene, and safe food practices. (Please refer to appendices).
We highly encourage self-reporting for any member of the community or visitors to the Ateneo campuses with the following:
- fever WITH a history of travel to areas with confirmed cases of 2019-nCOV infection in the 14 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms
- fever, cough, cold WITH a history of travel to areas with confirmed cases of 2019-nCOV infection in the 14 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms
- severe acute respiratory infection requiring hospitalization WITH a history of travel to areas with confirmed cases of 2019-nCOV infection in the 14 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms
- fever or signs and symptoms of respiratory infection within 14 days of close contact with any of the following:
- a confirmed or suspected case of 2019-nCoV
- a healthcare facility in China (where limited hospital-associated infections have been reported)
Anyone who fits the above criteria for suspected cases is advised to seek medical attention and to notify the Office of Health Services or the Infirmary in their respective units and speak with a health professional for advice.
We will release relevant bulletins as often as necessary for the guidance of everyone.
