AJHS in Harmony with Music and Arts Week

February 11, 2014
The week leading to the day of hearts in February is indelibly marked in the AJHS calendar as the Music and SiPag ( an acronym for Sining at Paggawa or Arts and Work Education ) Week. Coinciding with the
National Arts Month, the school will commemorate its celebration with a disctinctly Ateneo flavor to it.  For AJHS, the celebration began last February 10 with the  opening of the art exhibit at the David Hall Art and Sipag Rooms. The student works from their Art and Sipag classes were showcased in a wonderful display of creative talent and  artistic expression. Among the featured works of art were tie dyed shirts, Wood and paper mache works and modern renditions of heritage art dating back to the early century.

To complete the Music and Art character of this week- long celebration, everyday for the rest of the week, pocket concerts will be held at open spaces where students usually converge. The celebration culminates on Feb. 13 with the Mandatory Concert, featuring the Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino (Kontra-Gapi). The concert will be held at the Irwin Theater from 11am to 12:30pm.

To give you a taste of how National Music and Arts week is celebrated, here's a sampler from the Hortus pocket concerts featuring ISAIAH GABRIEL ESPINO's rendition of Tarantella for Piano .
