Dela Cruz wins Gold for PH at World Math Invitational in South Korea

Brian Dela Cruz Representing the Philippines, Ateneo Junior High School student Brian Dela Cruz won two medals in two recent international math competitions. Last July 17, he won a gold medal in the final round of the World Mathematical Invitational (WMI) held in Seoul, South Korea from July 13 – 17, 2018. Brian’s gold was one of 21 gold medals harvested by the Philippines at the competition, which was held in the campus of prestigious Yonsei University. A total of 1100 students from 20 countries participated in the WMI Final Round, namely South Korea, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam, and the Philippines.     

Secondly, Brian garnered a bronze medal in the Grade 9 division of the 2018 Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) held last April 7, 2018. This year, over 28,000 contestants from 18 countries participated in the SASMO, which was held in Saint Stephen’s High School.
