Dugan wins 3 medal awards for PH in SIMOC
Ateneo de Manila Junior High School mathlete Miggy Dugan (Montserrat/7-Goto) won one silver and two bronze awards for the Philippines in the three divisions of the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC). The silver award was for the team-based Mind Sports Challenge, while the two bronzes were for the Math Olympiad and the team-based Math Master Mind.
Held online on October 24, the SIMOC is a unique mathematics competition which not only tests the students’ ability to solve mathematical problems on pen and paper, but also tests their ability to work as a team to play interactive mathematical games and solve puzzles. SIMOC gives participants an opportunity to compete with top mathematical talents from around the world and learn from one another as a team. SIMOC’s three categories are:
- Math Olympiad for grades 2 to 10 (individual)
- Math Master Mind (team based)
- Mind Sports Challenge (team based)
The Philippines placed 3rd overall in SIMOC, behind champion Singapore and 1st runner-up Vietnam.
