The Ateneo 13U midgets are champions of the 2019 PAYA basketball tournament.

Consisting of players from Ateneo Junior High School Grade 8, the Ateneo 13U PAYA midgets basketball team won the Philippine Athletic Youth Association (PAYA) championship in the morning of March 9, 2019. Ateneo was victorious against Xavier in the finals, in what one parent described as, “...probably the most exciting game of the season….the (Ateneo) boys showed what a blue heart is all about.” The final score was 91-81 in favor of Ateneo. The members of Team Ateneo are Javier Alfonso Adevoso (8-Del Castillo), Paolo Manuel Adevoso (8-Cottam), Luis Gabriel Barros (8-Isore), David Martin Chan (8-Regis), Bon Gabriel Chu (8-Delgado), Giann Marco Cruz (8-Ishida), Simon Karl Cruz (8-Azevedo), Christian Roland Diokno (8-Delgado), Joaquin Manuel Fidel (8-Azevedo), Joaquin Frederik Geronimo (8-Arrowsmith), Jose Alfonso Lumawig (8-Regis), Lorenzo de la Luna (8-Regis), Joaquin Andres Mercado (8-Arrowsmith), Marshall Jordan Salandanan (8-Delgado), and Andrew Benjamin Tan (8-Pongracz).

The PAYA tournament began in October 2018. Among the schools that participated were De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ), La Salle Greenhills, Claret, Aquinas, and Sacred Heart Pasig. Team Ateneo won by huge margins over most of the teams and lost only one game in the tournament: the final elimination round game against Xavier. The blue and white defeated DLSZ in the semis to set up a finals match-up with Xavier again. In the finals, our boys would not be denied as they beat Xavier, 91-81. Team Ateneo was coached by Patrick Borjal (head coach), and Ron Camara (assistant coach).
