Nio Tria wins his 7th lawn tennis title since May 2017

Last August 28, in between exams, Ateneo Junior High School student Antonio “Nio” Tria of Cardoner/10-Briant emerged as 16U boys singles champion of the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA)-Subic Junior Series held at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The following day, August 29, he was back in school to take his first term exams in Science and English.

The Subic title is the seventh title Nio was won since May 2017. From May 23 to June 19, Nio won six lawn tennis titles in various tournaments held all over the Philippines. In the Olongapo leg of the HEAD Junior Tennis Tournament Satellite Circuit held from May 23 to 27, Nio won three titles: the 16U boys singles, the 18U boys singles, and the 18U boys doubles.  In the Manila leg of the HEAD tournament held from May 29 to June 3 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Nio emerged as 16U boys singles champion and 18U boys doubles champion. At the First Gen National Age Group Tennis Tournament that was concluded last June 19, Nio won the Group 1 16U boys singles title. Last June 11, Nio was a finalist in the 16U boys singles and 18U boys doubles competitions of the Anthony Tordesillas National Age Group Tournament held at the Manila Polo Club.
A consistent honor student at the AJHS, Nio was also one of only 15 students to receive the award for distinguished individual achievement at the AJHS Recognition Day ceremony last February. The award was in recognition of the 11 national lawn tennis championships he won during school year 2016-2017.
