ASoG Awards DBM’s Abad with Metrobank Foundation Professional Chair for Public Service and Governance
This year’s professorial chair paper will center on the reforms that the DBM is initiating in making the budget process more transparent and accountable. This will particularly look into specific initiatives and efforts, the stakeholders involved and the success and gains. It will also look into the misses and challenges and how the fundamental and structural problems of the country were addressed. More importantly, it will focus on the kind of Philippine governance we are expecting to see after his term as DBM secretary.
In the same event, the PODER Program of the Ateneo School of Government will launch its book “Infusing Reform in Elections: The Partisan Electoral Engagement of the Reform Movements in Post-Martial Law Philippines”. It provides a political context to the reforms that this administration was able to put in place. In this light, the reforms that Sec. Abad will be presenting in the lecture springs from such engagement of actors from the civil society and social movements, which underscores the importance of politics particularly partisan electoral engagement in achieving development and reforms in the government.
The Ateneo community is invited to witness the ceremonial awarding and professorial lecture of Secretary Abad, and the public launch of the book Infusing Reform in Elections on Thursday, March 7, 2013, 4:30 PM at the Escaler Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
