The lecture and laboratory use an integrated approach to the study of animal form and function in the maintenance of homeostasis by the investigation of vital processes using physio-chemical techniques.
The laboratory is designed to make you use the laboratory as a place to investigate. During the first few lab meetings, you will be doing cookbook type physiology experiments, getting familiar with handling live animals and with using laboratory equipment. The rest of the laboratory periods you will do student-developed research related to various aspects of animal systems physiology. You will be working in groups and each group is expected to conceptualize, develop and conduct a research on a specific animal/human system physiology. Each group is expected to become the “experts about a specific animal system physiology”. The results of the research will be presented during a class conference.
