3 AGS Mathletes earn slots on Philippine Team

Incoming Grade 5 mathletes Alphan Lomibao, Magnus Navarro, and Zion Uy have qualified to be members of the Philippine Team that will represent the country in various international competitions this year. The boys earned their slots following their outstanding performance in the AMSLI (Asian MathSci League Inc.) Mathematics Enrichment Program held from September to December 2018. Among the math competitions which the boys can choose to participate in are the World Mathematics Invitational Tournament (WMI) to be held in Japan this July, the Singapore Math Global Team Competition (Singa) to be held in Vietnam this November, and the Malaysia International Math Olympiad (MIMO) to be held in Malaysia this November.

Alphan Lomibao, Magnus Navarro, and Zion Uy each won several medals in various international math competitions in 2018. In recognition of the honor they brought to the Philippines, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) gave each of them a Youth Excellence in Science (YES) medal at an award ceremony held on February 14, 2019. Last March 14, all three boys also received the Student Excellence Award  (SEA) from the Department of Education at a ceremony held in the Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier.
