Six AGS mathletes shine in World Math Team Competition

January 12, 2021

Comprised of Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes Sieggy Cajucom (6-Bellarmine), Rohan Herrera (6-Xavier), Alphan Lomibao (6-Xavier), Magnus Navarro (6-Bellarmine), Darren Uy (6-Xavier), and Zion Uy (6-Campion), “Team 1” was named among the top-performing teams from the Philippines in the Junior Category of the recent 11th World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC)! Because of the online nature of the competition, the WMTC team awards did not rank the teams per its usual practice. Rather, the teams that were among the top 30% in each category were recognized.
As for individual awards, Rohan, Alphan, Magnus and Zion each earned the silver award while Sieggy and Darren each took the bronze award.

The 11th WMTC was held online on November 29, 2020, with participants from Australia, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Hongkong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Qatar, Thailand, Taiwan, USA, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
