Caravan of Good Governance visits Isabela and Tuguegarao City

Last October 24 and 25, the Kaya Natin! Caravan of Good Governance visited the Province of Isabela and Tuguegarao City to talk about good governance and ethical leadership to youth leaders, academicians, local government leaders and representatives from the civil society organizations. The visit to Isabela was part of the celebration of Kaya Natin! leader and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Gov. Grace Padaca's birthday. Aside from Gov. Padaca, fellow Kaya Natin! leaders Pampanga Gov. Eddie "Among Ed" Panlilio and San Isidro, Nueva Ecija Mayor Sonia Lorenzo also joined the forums.

More than 1,000 youth leaders from all over the province of Isabela attended the Isabela Youth Forum wherein Gov. Padaca stressed the need for young people to be involved in the upcoming 2010 National Elections as volunteers for election watch groups such as NAMFREL and PPCRV. In her own message, Mayor Lorenzo shared that her own success as a public official can partly be attributed to the inspiration she gets whenever she works with young people. Among the programs that Mayor Lorenzo mentioned were the Gawad Kalinga villages that were built in her town and the public library that was done through the efforts of volunteers many of which came from the Ateneo de Manila University.

After the Isabela Youth Forum, Kaya Natin! brought Gov. Panlilio to St. Paul University in Tuguegarao City to meet with youth leaders from all over the province of Cagayan. The forum was organized through the efforts of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao led by Archbishop Diosdado Talamayan and Fr. Gary Agcaoili. In his talk, Gov. Panlilio shared his success story in Pampanga wherein Kapampangans from all walks of life volunteered and joined forces to help in electing him as governor of the province despite facing two well-entrenched and well-financed political opponents. As a parting message, Gov. Panlilio encouraged the participants to consider running for public office in order to give Filipinos better alternatives during the elections.

The Kaya Natin! Caravan of Good Governance will be visiting Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite and Pampanga this coming November and December.
