In his memoranda, Father Nebres also thanked the reappointed LS officials for accepting to continue in their leadership and service as well as the two outgoing university administrators. He thanked in particular Dr. Antonette P. Angeles who will be stepping down from the position of Academic Vice President and Director of the Office of International Programs on March 31, 2009. During the past 10 years, Dr. Angeles’ assistance, advice and support have been invaluable in the academic and other challenges the Ateneo de Manila faced as it grew in size and complexity. She has also built an extensive international network for the university which serves as the foundation of its internationalization programs, Nebres said.
Father Nebres also gratefully acknowledged Mrs. Angeles “Cherry” S. Franco, Assistant to the President since 1994, for her competence, commitment and dedication in the years of great change and challenge to the university.
The position of Vice President for Administration and Planning is a new position. Among its chief functions is to develop a facilities plan and information technology (IT) plan for the university in consultation with relevant stakeholders. The VPAP also supervises the head of Physical Plant as well as the auxiliary units under the Office of the President (Archives, University Press, Art Gallery, and ACESS). With the appointment of Dr. John Paul C. Vergara as VPAP, the position of Academic Vice President will be left vacant.
