Office for Social Concern and Involvement (OSCI)
VISION
Following the Ignatian Pedagogical Tradition, the Office for Social Concern and Involvement (OSCI) seeks to deepen social awareness and intensify the passion for social involvement among Loyola School students in order to create positive impact among marginalized communities.
MISSION
Through its formation programs, the OSCI
1. Raises awareness of the reality of poverty and fosters solidarity action and advocacy work;
2. Utilizes service-learning as a pedagogical strategy across various academic disciplines; and
3. Serves as a principal link of the Loyola Schools to marginalized communities.
In doing so, we shall develop future leaders who have the critical consciousness and the "heart" for the marginalized and live a life of faith that does justice.
BRIEF HISTORY
The Office for Social Concern and Involvement (OSCI) since its establishment in April 1975 has sought several approaches to respond to the call of Jesuit education of forming ‘persons-for-others’ among its students. From traditional immersions in rural and urban communities to relief drives and mobilization for advocacy works, the OSCI has been an active partner in imbibing to the Ateneans their deep sense of social responsibility.
PROGRAMS
First Year: Introduction to Ateneo Culture and Traditions (InTACT)
The InTACT is a year-long subject for all freshmen of the Loyola Schools, which hopes to develop self-awareness and eventually self-acceptance and self-empowerment.
