Activities of the Ateneo Electric Vehicle and Traffic Simulation Research Group

2014.02.27 E-Vehicle Group in the 3rd Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit

The Electric Vehicle Research were delegates from the academe. The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP) hosted the event at the Meralco Theater, Pasig City. The summit was supported by various sectors from the academe, industry, and government units. Delegates for the Ateneo Innovation Center included Dr. Tangonan, Dr. Libatique, and Infante.

2013.03.03.01 Undergraduate Members of the E-Vehicle and Traffic Simulation Group Successfully Defended their Thesis

E-Vehicle members defended their final year project with the title: "Multi-agent Behavioral Modeling of Traffic Applied to E-Jeepneys" organized by the Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering Department of Ateneo de Manila University. Members that successfully defended their thesis included Mojica, Polidario and Ferma. Electric Vehicle Research students were chosen as one of the finalists for the Ateneo School of Science and Engineering (SOSE) Awards for Student Research.

2012.11.19-22 E-Vehicle Group in the IEEE TENCON 2012

The paper "Performance evaluation of series hybrid and pure electric vehicles using lead-acid batteries and supercapacitors" has been accepted for a paper presentation at the 2012 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON2012). The accepted paper included Infante, Uy, Khan, Tangonan, and Libatique. TENCON is a premier international technical conference of IEEE Region 10, also referred as the Asia Pacific Region, one of the largest regional organizations of the IEEE. Held annually since 1980, TENCON provides an important forum for researchers and engineers from the industries, and professors and graduate students from the academia to network and to discuss new ideas and development in emerging areas of electrical and electronic engineering, computers science and related fields.

2011.12.13 Meeting with the Supercapacitor Research Group

The Supercapacitor Research Group from the Chemistry Department of Ateneo de Manila University had a jumpstart meeting with representatives from the Electronics, Communications, and Computer Engineering Department at the Ateneo Innovation Center. The Chemistry Group was headed by Dr. Enriquez. Their group aims to develop supercapacitors that could lead to better energy management in high-power applications.

2010.12.05 Electric Tricycle at Ateneo de Manila University

Students from the Electronics Department of Ateneo de Manila University began quantitative testing of electric tricycles deployed in the Loyola Schools Campus of Ateneo de Manila. This was intended to start improvements in the battery energy management of electric tricycles. Research members include Dantes, Infante, Rina, San Juan, and Varela.

2005.09.07-09 E-Vehicle Group in the IEEE VPPC 2005
Electric Vehicle Group participated in the Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (2005) held at the Illinois Insitute of Technology. VPPC is the flagship conference of IEEE for advanced vehicles and this makes VPPC of significant importance with unprecedented responsibilities. There is a dire need to educate the public, train the students, engineers, and scientists, research fundamental and groundbreaking solutions, innovate new technologies, develop cost-effective and better products, and finally commercialize more environmental friendly vehicles. VPPC is doing a great job in leading such monumental task from the technical side.
