Dr. James Simpas earned his Ph.D. in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University.  He is the program coordinator of the Atmospheric Science program of the Department of Physics.  He is also the program head of the Urban Air Quality / Instrumentation and Technology Development of Manila Observatory.  Dr. Simpas is the lead investigator for the installation of more than 30 automated meteorological stations in Metro Manila.  He is also the project leader for the DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) project funded by Department of Science and Technolgy (DOST).
