Ateneo Programming Varsity Teams win 2nd and 4th Runner Up at the 2013 ACM ICPC Philippine Invitational
Teams “dr” and “Carmiel” of the Programming Varsity Team won 2nd and 4th runner up respectively in the recently concluded 2013 ACM ICPC Philippine Invitational held last March 2, 2013.
Out of the 46 teams from 24 different schools, the 8 teams of the Ateneo de Manila University all landed to the top 16. Team rankings were then determined by a number of problems solved and time taken to solve the problems.
Team dr, which won 2nd runner up, is composed of Vernon Gutierrez (4CS), Mark Joshua Tan (4CS), and Jonathan Wong (4AMF) while Team Carmiel, 4th runner up, is composed of Jan Amiel Reviche (2CS), Camille Marie Ruiz (2CS), and Charlene Kate Tolentino (2CS).
The teams were coached by Janssen Marwin Go, Dr. Proceso Fernandez, Dr. John Paul Vergara, Michael Ybañez, John Boaz Lee, Th
omas Dy, Wilhansen Li, Russell Santos, and Dr. Jumela Sarmiento. The team managers are Dr. Ma. Mercedes T. Rodrigo, Jessica Sugay, and Walfrido David Diy. Last month, Kyle Stephen See (1 BS CS) and Mark Joshua Tan (4 BS CS) won First Place in the 2013 UP CURSOR Java Cup last Feb 18 while Vernon Gutierrez (4 BS CS) and Jonathan Wong (4 BSM AMF) also placed 4th.
