Ang appointed VP for Administration and Information Systems
Rodolfo "Rudy" Ang has been named as the University's Vice President for Administration and Information Systems (VP-AIS), the Office of the President announced on Tuesday, 1 December 2020.
The appointment was approved by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees last 19 November 2020, according to a memo from Fr Roberto Yap SJ, University President.
Ang will serve as the first VP-AIS, whose main role is to oversee the institution's physical plant, facilities, health and safety, and information technology.
He was most recently Dean of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, a position he held from 2014-2020. Prior to that, he was the Dean of the John Gokongwei School of Management (2003-2014); Chairman of the Marketing and Law Department, JGSOM (2000-2004); and Chairman of the Management Department of the then School of Arts and Sciences (1991-2000).
"A seasoned administrator, Rudy brings to this office his talents for management, strategic thinking, and innovation as well as his rich professional experience in the private sector in the fields of business and entrepreneurship," Yap said in the memo. "Under his leadership, we are confident that the University’s administration and information systems will be further strengthened and improved."
The position of Vice President for Administration and Information Systems was formed to separate the function of the Vice President for Administration and Human Resources. The Board of Trustees approved the creation of a separate VP for Human Resources and VP-AIS last 1 August 2020.
The new VP-AIS position will oversee the Central Facilities Management Office; Campus Safety and Mobility Office; Information Technology Resource Management Office; University Archives; and the Office of Food Safety and Quality Assurance.
Dr Maria Victoria Cortez, previously VP-AHR, has become VP-HR, and has overseen the office of the VP-AIS through the transition. She will serve as VP-HR until 31 May 2022.
Ang will serve a 3-year term, starting 1 January 2021.
