Mission:

To create and sustain an environment in the non-academic area that nurtures, heightens and deepens the formation of students to become effective “soldiers of Christ” in their chosen professions.

Thrust:

A heightened communication and internalization of the Ignatian spirit. May be explicit or implicit through the areas of expertise of the different offices/bodies composing the ADSA Team.

Human Development Framework:

There are several facets that complete an individual, they are:

a. Physical
b. Psycho-emotional
c. Intellectual
d. Social
e. Spiritual

Complete and healthy development of these facets involve the proper guidance, nurturing and tutelage of the individual.

Context:

     1. Mission of the educational apostolate is Evangelization. This embraces three essential foundations of our institution namely:

a. “Proclamation of faith through justice”

b. “Incultration”

c. “Inter-religious dialogue”

     2. The existing world outside our walls waiting for our students and how to prepare them for it given the following existing variables:

a. Students in their chosen profession

i. Placement of competent graduates in responsible positions allowing for their full potential and talents to contribute positively to society’s principles, organizations, structures and systems.

ii. Students/graduates from the Ateneo remaining “sed” or in lay man’s terms undiscovered/buried potential/s.

iii. Students/graduates having to compromise values, priciples and work ethics in order to fulfill society’s needs.

iv. Allowing the “Ignatian Support Structure” to be made more explicit.

b. The importance of continually supporting and guiding the student into becoming more determined, helping them realize and discover their talents and potentials, and teaching them how to harness it in order to help them to be more prepared physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for their future as competent graduates in their chosen professions in the real world guided by the Ignatian Way of “being a more effective agent of positive change”.

3. Proposing a challenge to the graduate/student

a. “Proclamation of faith through justice” – being effective agents of positive change in their chosen professions, i.e.,

i. “Light of the world” – occupying a major role in society and making drastic changes.

ii. “Salt of the earth” – occupying smaller roles in society while contributing more subtle and less drastic changes.

b. “Inculturation” – integrating their expertise with technology in their chosen professions in pursuit of a better world.

i. “Inter-religious Dialogue” – By applying an interdisciplinary approach to confronting humanitarian, technological, spiritual and economical problems.
