EMERGENCY HELP AND OTHER MEDICAL SERVICES
Blood Transfusions
When a member of the Loyola Schools community is ill and needs an emergency blood transfusion, the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs serves as a vital link between the patient and the blood donors. Through a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Kidney Institute and linkages with other hospitals such as St. Luke’s Medical Center, Lungsod ng Kabataan
and Philippine Heart Center, the Office of the Associate Dean for
Student Affairs can immediately call any of the above mentioned
hospitals and request for the needed blood:
Simply provide the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs with the following information of the person needing the blood:
• Name
• Blood type
• Hospital where he/she is confined
• How much blood is needed
The Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs may also look for willing donors with the needed blood type and provide transportation to the hospital where the person needing the blood is confined.
Emergency Transport
When a student suddenly falls ill while in school, the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, in coordination with the College Infirmary, attends to the emergency needs of the student.
Standard Operating Procedure in Medical Emergencies:
1. Necessary information such as name, year & course and contact numbers will be obtained.
2. Parents/guardians will be informed of the emergency and their authorization to act will also be secured.
3. Depending on the severity of the illness, the student will be brought to one of the following facilities:
• College Infirmary
• Health Development Institute
• UP Infirmary
• Nearest hospital
If a student is absent from class for a long time due to illness, the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs forwards a letter of excuse to the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
