Accreditation Guidelines
School Year 2003-2004
The Ateneo De Manila University, cognizant of its students who reside in off-campus student housing or dormitory facilities in Loyola Heights, has taken steps to extend its services to these students through the accreditation of student housing facilities. The Ateneo, represented by the Office of Associate Dean for Student Affairs, has established minimum standards to safeguard the quality of life of the students. The standards were established in consultation with the different sectors concerned, namely, the students, the parents represented by the Ateneo Schools Parents Council, the off-campus student housing owners, and the Ateneo residence halls management and mentors.
Student Housing Facilities Categories:
The categories indicate the quantity of amenities or features found in the housing facility (e.g., is there a recreation room? Computers for the use of the boarders? Cable TV?). The Star rating indicates the overall quality of the amenities found. This ranges from working to excellent condition.
I. ECONOMY – This is the basic category that signifies that the facility would have met the minimum requirements established by the Ateneo in terms of quantity of attributes found in the housing facility. Pricing, ideally, will also be the lowest among the three categories. The Economy category is assumed to be affordable for Ateneans with a tight budget.
II. REGULAR – A housing facility in this category would have met the minimum requirements established by the Ateneo in terms of quantity of attributes. It would also have some extra amenities to provide extra conveniences or comfort. Pricing will generally be higher than Economy, but lower than Luxury.
III. LUXURY – A housing facility in this category would have met the minimum quantity or attributes or facilities and would have generally more extra amenities and conveniences not normally available in a student housing facility. Pricing will be generally higher compared to Economy and Regular.
Under each category, there will be a Star Rating to determine the general quality of amenities found.
1) One ( ) Rating – minimum acceptable working condition
2) Two ( )
Rating – good condition.
3) Three ( )
Rating – excellent condition, very reliable, rarely breaks down, relatively brand new.
