Carbon Market

Carbon Market is named after the coal depository of the Cebu railroad, whose final station was in this area. Carbon is a typical Philippine market where various items, from food stuff to handicraft, may be found. Many of the handicraft stores carry baskets, mats, bags and decorative items from Cebu and Bohol.

Recoletos

This is the site of the Recollect church built in the 19th century. The church was Neoclassical in style and had a portico supported by a colonnade. The use of porticoes for the facade can be found in other Recollect built churches, notably the churches of Bohol which trace to the 19th century.

The church’s gilded retablo representing the life of the Virgin Mary in high relief is in the San Agustin Museum in Intramuros, Manila.
