Ateneo Residence Halls
The Ateneo Residence Halls, conveniently located inside the Ateneo campus, comprises three separate buildings: Cervini Hall, Eliazo Hall, and the University Dormitory. Cervini Hall accepts 120 male students every year, while Eliazo admits 120 female students every year. Cervini and Eliazo are occupied primarily by freshmen, but some slots are available for exchange students and visitors. The University Dormitory is a 600-bed facility for the upperclassmen, divided into two wings, the North Wing and the South Wing, occupied by the men and the women, respectively.
Resident students are provided with individual bed and mattress, cabinet for clothes and shoes, study table with a lamp, a chair, and book shelves. There are four occupants to a room. The rooms have built-in ceiling fans. Each room has a local telephone. In Cervini and Eliazo Halls, an electronic paging system is also installed in each room.
Personal necessities. Restrooms with bath are common facilities located at each floor of the three buildings. Hot water is available for baths. Free telephones are provided for local calls, while payphones are available for long-distance calls. There is a prayer room and a resident chaplain. There are also several study rooms in the different buildings, all of which are air-conditioned.
Recreation. A common recreation area contains billiard tables, ping pong tables, and a piano. There are adjacent TV and video rooms for resident student use. The spacious recreation room also functions as a multi-purpose hall for assemblies, masses, and parties.
Food. There are two cafeterias. The Cervini Cafeteria is located beside the north wing of Cervini. The University Dormitory cafeteria is located in the lower ground floor of the University Dormitory. Their schedules are listed below. Should a resident student wish to cook his own food, a pantry is located on the third floor of Cervini Hall.
Cervini Cafeteria: open from 7AM to 9PM everyday
University Dormitory Cafeteria:
Monday to Thursday: 7AM to 11PM
Friday: 7AM to 9PM
Saturday and Sunday: 11AM to 9PM
Laundry services. There are accredited laundry women who offer laundry services every Monday and Thursday. There are also several accredited laundry firms that pick up and deliver laundry every day. The University Residences have an in-house laundry service, Star Cleaner. Also, there are token-operated washing machines for those who wish to do their own laundry.
Security and Maintenance. The Residence Halls provides 24-hour security assistance through the lady and male guards. There is also a full-time maintenance team for minor repairs of dormitory facilities. However, students are expected to clean up their own rooms.
Internet access. Cervini Hall is the first dormitory in the Philippins to provide room-to-room internet access. Currently, all residents of the Ateneo Residence Halls may choose to subscribe for Internet access, for a fee. Residents can connect to the Internet through individual ports in their rooms using a cable, or through wireless access in certain areas of the Residence Halls.
Most dorm activities and support services are organized and managed by the residents themselves through the Ateneo Resident Students' Association (ARSA) and its working committees. These include the orientation for new and freshmen dormers; academic tutorials, group study and book lending; Sunday masses, evening prayer, recollections; sportsfest, variety show and open house. ARSA is also active in opportunities for social awareness and involvement like disaster relief operations, socio-political mobilizations, and social education.
