About - ACED
The Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) is the result of two paradigm shifts concerning the Ateneo de Manila University and its role in development. The first is the shift from the idea of the Ateneo running as an excellent school to helping others to be excellent schools themselves. The second shift has been from an evolved appreciation of graduate programs aimed at harnessing leaders and professionals already in the field of development to help them make an impact on national development.
To date, ACED has been serving the public school sector through the Department of Education (DepEd) and other units in the University.
Thus, the Center was inaugurated on February 11, 1997. Since then, ACED has extended its services to the public schools and institutions committed to enhance the country's educational system.
ACED Mission Statement
The Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) spearheads the University's mission to close the poverty gap and improve quality of life through improving public basic education in scale.
It aims to move up the performance of clusters of public schools through initiatives that are needs-based, community-owned, and outcomes-based, by engaging various units of the Ateneo de Manila, the school communities, DepEd at the national and local levels, and local government.
It facilitates partnerships with individuals and institutions to marshal human and material resources to support its mission.
