ME senior named Bayer Young Environmental Envoy 2005

Management Engineering senior Alita Criselle Bautista proved once again that students from the John Gokongwei School of Management are at par with the others from universities abroad by being named as one of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoys (BYEE) for 2005. Along with four distinguished students in the country, she will be joining other envoys from twelve (12) other countries, namely Thailand, India, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Korea, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Poland in a weeklong all expense educational field trip to Germany from November 12 - 18, 2005.

The envoys were chosen based on their presentations related to the UN Millenium Development goals, which they expounded on before a distinguished panel of judges from the media, government, the United Nations, youth and non-governmental organizations.

Bautista would like to address the youth's lack of awareness and consciousness on sustainable development because the future of the coming generations is at stake. She believes LGUs and national agencies should undertake joint efforts with other sectors to provide incentives for business to go green, or for business and industry to do alternative advertising. Her expertise is operations management. She believes research on green (Eco-Labels) labels from other countries will contribute to the solution of the problem.

Congratulations!
