After
coming up with breakthrough projects such as the Business Leadership Forum
and the Family Business Breakfast Roundtable, the John Gokongwei School of
Management (JGSOM), in cooperation with Business World, introduces another
program that is bound to put local business to another level---the 2004
Entrepreneurial Academy (EA '04). EA
'04 is a series of two-day seminar-workshops that will be held at the
JGSOM from 19 May to 3 June. These will be conducted by well-known
business practitioners and faculty members of the Ateneo de Manila
University. Crafted with entrepreneurs and their key staff in mind, this
series aims to help entrepreneurs of local small and medium scale
industries run their respective businesses better by providing tips on
increasing productivity, avoiding common business mistakes, and making
smarter decisions. This series will also introduce participants to the
Ateneo brand of Business Mangement that will help them hone their business
skills and expertise. The
seminar-workshops are divided into three categories, namely: The Business
of Numbers, Growing Your Business, and Family Business Management. There
will be three seminar-workshops under the Business of Numbers, which are
"Understanding the Bottom Line: Basic Accounting,"
"Achieving Your Bottom Line: Managerial Accounting," and
"Finance for Entrepreneurs." These will be conducted by Mr. Rudy
P. Ang, Dean and Mr. Darwin D. Yu, Former Chair, Finance Department of the
JGSOM. Growing
Your Business will showcase four seminar-workshops, namely: "Local
Store Marketing: "Building Your Business on a Tight Budget,"
"Language that Sells: Effective Business Talk for the 21st
Century," "Not Just English But Business English," and
"Business Opportunies in Franchising." These seminars will be
conducted by Mr. Ronald R. Hilario, Customer Business Development Mangager
of Proctor & Gamble Distributing (Phils.), Inc., Mr. Ricardo H.
Mercado, Chairman, Leadership & Strategy Department of the JGSOM, and
Dr. Marianne G. Perfecto and Ms. Ma. Luz Elena N. Canilao, faculty members
of the Department of English of the School of Humanities. Lastly,
there will be two seminar-workshops under the Family Business Management.
These are: "Let's Talk About It: Strategies in Family Conflict
Resolution" and "Sucession Planning for Family Businesses."
These will be conducted by Mr. Enrique V. Abadesco, Jr., Princial
