You are invited to join The Eleventh Family
Business Breakfast Roundtable on
"Crafting a Family Constitution"
Dr. Darwin Yu, Chair
Leadership and Strategy Department

"Family Business" presupposes a union of the family and the business unit.  Though seemingly simple, it actually creates a host of complications that need to be addressed. The first of which is the need for a set of guidelines or credo that will help the family conduct business. This is called the Family Constitution. Many family businesses find themselves bogged down by family issues and unable to move on. The Family Constitution plays a critical role in the survival of both the business unit and the family unit. By clarifying the family business' guiding principles in such a document, the family has a stronger basis for resolving any issues and working through conflict.

What are the benefits of a Family Constitution? Can it really help my family? We are already having major conflicts in the family can we still craft one? How does one go about in crafting one? Who are involved? How long does it take?

For the Eleventh Family Business Breakfast Roundtable, Mr. Ricardo Mercado and Mrs. Terry Galura, both Professorial Lecturers at the John Gokongwei School of Management will discuss "Write and Agree on the Policies Before the Need - Family Constitution". This will be an opportunity to learn about and to discuss the framing of family constitutions based on the Filipino experience.

The Eleventh Session will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. Our venue for the Family Business Breakfast Roundtable will be at the McKinley Room of the Manila Polo Club in Makati City.  Registration fee is PhP 700.00 inclusive of breakfast. Only a maximum of 50 participants will be accommodated.

For reservations, please email Ms. Ghing Lopez or contact her at 4266001 loc. 5521.

We hope you can be a part of what will certainly be a fruitful and relevant discussion on Family Constitution.
