American Scholar lectures on Corporate Finance Dr.
James Ang, The Bank of America Eminent Scholar and Professor of Finance at
the Florida State University, gave a talk entitled Making Money in
Corporate Finance: Understanding the How and Why at SOM 106 last
February 1, 2005. Students who are taking "Advance Finance"
under Darwin Yu attended the talk. Most
finance theories have been built on assumptions about the existence of an
efficient capital market. In reality, however, many market
inefficiencies exist, such as taxes, information asymmetries, agency
problems, and discrepancies between borrowing and lending rates. In
the Philippines, these market inefficiencies are even more pronounced that
