alumni off to International Law Competition Cristina
Garcia Codilla (BS LM '02), Abigail Love Go (BS LM '03), Joseph
Anthony Lopez (BS ME '02), and Patricia Ngochua (BS LM '02)
of the Ateneo Law School will represent the Philippines in the Philip C.
Jessup International Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. on 22 March
2005. The team earned the right to represent the country after defeating other teams from the UP College of Law and UST College of Law in the regional finals held at the National Center for Culture and Arts in Intramuros last 19 February. This is the second consecutive year that the Ateneo Law School garnered the top spot in the competition. Coached
by Aimee Dabu, member of the Ateneo Law School Team that bagged the 2004
Jessup World Championship, the team swept all three categories in the
regional finals, namely: Best Team, Best Oralist (Lopez), and Best
Memorials. The team is now preparing with every intention to successfully
defend the Ateneo Law School's international crown. Every
year, representatives from the most prestigious law schools around the
world (including Harvard Law School, Oxford University, National
University of Singapore, and the University of Sydney) vie for the top
spot in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition. The
Jessup World Championship has a mock-court format emulating the
International Court of Justice, with each team arguing either for or
against a specific problem before a panel of the most distinguished
scholars in international law. |
