students win championship in 2005 ORSP Quiz
Yet
again, a team of Management Engineering students of the John Gokongwei
School of Management (JGSOM) emerged as the champion in the 2005
Operations Research Quiz held last 5 March 2005 at the Abelardo Hall in
the University of the Philippines.
Coached
by Mr. Alyson L. Yap, faculty member of the Quantitative Methods
and Information Technology Department of the JGSOM, the team, which
consists of juniors Jean Abigail Bendecion, Madeline Paula Chan,
and Kimberly Diane Tan and seniors Marco Co and Timothy
Robin Teng, bested other engineering student teams from De La Salle
University, Letran College, Mapua Institute of Technology, University of
the Philippines - Diliman, University of the Philippines - Los Baņos, and
University of Sto. Tomas.
The event is organized yearly by the Operations Research Society of the Philippines (ORSP). Guided by integrity and commitment, the ORSP aims to develop and promote the advancement and practice of Operations Research/Management Science (OR/MS) in the Philippines. ORSP also serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and experiences of the use of OR in all sectors of Philippine society.
