Grads awarded student fellowships in Singapore Angela
Constantino (BS MCT '04), Richard Que (BS Mgt '04), and Wilfred
Segovia (BS ME '04), recent graduates of the John Gokongwei School
of Management (JGSOM), bested other students all over the country to
become recipients of the Singapore International Foundation – ASEAN
(SIF – ASEAN) Student Youth Fellowship this year. The SIF-ASEAN Student Fellowship is a platform designed for youths in Southeast Asia to study for one semester at a university in Singapore. It aims to develop close ties and promote friendships among student leaders of ASEAN through the experience of living and learning together. With a strong emphasis on experiential education, the Fellowship is an excellent opportunity that will allow Student Fellows to: a) enhance their leadership skills; b) Enrich the Inter-Cultural Understanding; and c) engage in Community Service and Social Entrepreneurship. Components of the felllowship consist of Academic, Community Living and Relationship Building, and other SIF-organized activities. Now in its twelfth year, the Fellowship has 400 alumni all over Southeast Asia.
Angel Constantino and Wilfred Segovia are currently enrolled at the Nanyang Technological University while Richard Que is with the Singapore Management University. Another Atenean, Patrick Lim (AB DS '04), is studying the National University of Singapore. Lim was a Management Engineering (ME) student before shifting voluntarily to Developmental Studies (DS). According to Segovia, the Ateneo de Manila University has the most number of participants in the fellowship. "Although, we've already graduated, I find myself taking my subjects here seriously…In the past few weeks, we have met the president of Singapore, attended an international student conference, visited a school for special kids, did community service, among others," Segovia added in a letter addressed to Mr. Rudy Ang, Dean of the John Gokongwei School of Management.
