Out in SY 2005 - 2006 Of
the thousands who apply to the Loyola Schools, a select few clearly stand
out--undeniably "standing out" head and shoulders above the
rest. 107 out of the 229 students in the Ateneo Freshman Director's List 2005 will be enrolling in the John Gokongwei School of Management next school year. The list consists of the top 2% of the 13, 000 freshmen applicants to the Loyola Schools for SY 2005 - 2006. An Open House with the theme Standing Out was held in their honor at the Escaler Hall last February 6, 2005. According to Ms. Jolly Morata, Assistant to the Director of the Loyola Schools Office of Admission and Aid, these students have done very well in the Ateneo College Entrance Exam Test (ACET). They have also distinguished themselves in both academics and co-curricular activities in their respective high schools. "The Loyola Schools recognizes in these students great promise: a vast potential to contribute and enrich the university community and the Philippine nation. In and through them, the Loyola Schools hopes to continue its tradition of excellence in academics, and service to God and country," Fr. Nemesio Que, SJ, Director of the Loyola Schools Office of Admission and Aid, said in his opening remarks during the reception program. Meanwhile, Dr. Anna Miren Intal, Vice-President for the Loyola Schools, assured the parents of the incoming freshmen by saying, "Like other educational institutions, we hope that your children will continue to grow and become the best that they can be as students and future leaders of our community." Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres, SJ, President of the Ateneo de Manila University, also graced the occasion by talking about the Ateneo's past, present, and future, which awed and inspired the participants. After the program, an open forum was conducted wherein incoming freshmen and their parents eagerly asked their questions which administrators and faculty members answered candidly. The students and their parents were honored with a sumptuous dinner afterwards. |
