The Department of Biology offers excellent programs in BS Biology, MS Biology and Master in Biology Education. Qualified and competent teachers with graduate studies and research experiences earned here and abroad train the students. To sustain quality education, to keep up with the trends of time, and to contribute to science, technology and society, various researches and related activities are also undertaken by the department.

The Chemistry Department at the Ateneo provides the student an excellent environment for scientific inquiry and discourse. Our faculty offers expertise in the most relevant fields of chemistry, having been trained in well-established scientific institutions around the world. They are actively engaged in research and extension work funded by the university, the private sector, and the government. Even with our strong research thrust, the department has remained very much teaching oriented. Our faculty to student ratio (1:10) ensures that we are able to address each student's learning needs. Furthermore, individualized laboratory set-ups and hands-on experience with modern instruments provide the students the best training possible.

Two of the most crucial challenges facing human society are environmental protection and sustainable development. The solution requires an understanding of both human nature and human society. Therefore, for Environmental Science to be effective, it has to have a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to these environmental problems.The Environmental Science Program at the Ateneo provides the essential knowledge and skills in a wide range of disciplines, and encourages the student to apply these to real world problems. Its graduates are active in the industry as environmental officers, consultants and researchers.

The Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering Program at the Ateneo de Manila University is a community of scientists, engineers and scholars committed to the service of the nation through the Ignatian tradition of excellence in teaching and research. This newly established program is the School of Science and Engineering's response to the country's need for engineers who will be frontrunners in the rapidly changing fields of electronics, computers, and telecommunications by providing a science-based engineering program that is deeply rooted in human values and characterized by a multi-disciplinary approach to education in science and mathematics, technical skills and expertise with courses in the humanities, social sciences and personal enrichment.

Information technology shall determine much of the 21st century. As a result, there has been an ever-increasing need for competent and highly-trained computer professionals. In response to this need, the School of Science and Engineering offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Management Information Systems and a graduate program in Computer Science. The programs aim to produce professionals who can not only keep abreast of the rapid developments in the computing field, but are also cognizant of the appropriate use of technology in a country like the Philippines.

PHYSICS

The School of Science and Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Physics to support the rapid evelopment in the areas of Photonics, Material Physics and Environmental Physics. The Department features well equipped teaching laboratories to ensure that our students experience Physics as an experimental science. Computer aided experimentation in these teaching laboratories allows laboratory time to be spent maximizing the conceptual understanding of physical phenomena.
