The Ateneo Graduate Department of Education is committed to educate and prepare professional teachers, administrators, counselors, and researchers through a variety of programs on instruction, administration, research and related educational specialization. The academic program is grounded on sound intellectual excellence and service for others.
The Department of Education is committed to serve the Philippine educational system through graduate education and research programs, to empower educators through an understanding of their profession and vocation, and to lead in influencing educational policies and directions.
The Department offers a graduate degree program grounded on sound pedagogical theories and on the Jesuit tradition of intellectual excellence and service for others. In addition, the students are familiarized with the different theories and concepts relative to the course in each area of specialization. The Department also conducts retraining programs for education practitioners through the Ateneo Teacher Center and does research in various areas of education. It harnesses the expertise of professionals and practitioners from the other units of the University and the Ateneo network.
In pursuing this vision, the Department of Education as a community of committed educators reiterate the core values of rooted ness in Christ, in Ignatius, and in the Filipino culture responsive to the needs of Philippine society.

The Department of Education offers the Master of Arts in Education with 4 major concentrations:

Reading EducationStarting the first semester of school year 2003-2004, the department will offer the degree in Master in Information and Communication Technology in Education.
Admission Requirements:
To qualify for admission to a degree program, the applicant must have:
- a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a college of good standing
- a general average of 85, "B" or 2.00
- a minimum of 18 units or the equivalent in the discipline in which the applicant intends to do graduate work
- acceptable scores in the entrance tests administered by the Office of the Graduate School and Services at the Ateneo de Manila University
- an interview with the department chair
