POWER: The Bellarmine generator developed
a problem in late February. This has already been repaired and will be
tested this week. A power interruption will be scheduled when the generator
is tested. The test will be done after office hours so as not to disrupt
operations. Bellarmine Hall units will be informed of the time and date
of the test.
COMMUNICATION: The imported PABX components
were delivered last Friday, 16 March. It will be installed once the renovated
PABX/CNG room is completed.
The new Fujitsu Flexicom 5000 PABX cabinet at the
Physical Plant shop being inspected by Tricom (supplier of the PABX equipment)
personnel.
Civil works on the expanded PABX/CNG room on top of
the walkway between Xavier and Kotska Halls is on schedule. However, work
will be suspended because the Internet Equipment Cabinet (IEC) cannot
be relocated till after registration for the summer classes is completed.
Relocating the IEC now may create problems and jeopardize submission of
grades as well as disrupt Loyola Schools' online summer registration.

2. West side of the PABX/CNG room seen from the A-Store of Xavier Hall.
3. Area where civil works are required (i.e., putting up a beam where
red arrow is) that cannot be completed until after the Loyola Schools
summer registration on 15 April.
Despite the interruption in the work schedule, the
new PABX and upgraded Internet systems are expected to be ready and online
in June when classes start.
WATER: The 4th quarter Bacteriological Analysis
of water was conducted last 12 March and the test results were released
last Monday, 19 March:
"Thirty-four (34) samples collected from
different cisterns and overhead tanks in the Ateneo campuses in
Katipunan and Rockwell conform to the Philippine National Standards
for Drinking Water (PNSDW) with regard to coliform bacteria. Two
(2) samples were found to contain coliform bacteria as observed
in the turbidity and gas present after the confirmatory test. The
water samples were collected from HIGH SCHOOL MAIN CISTERN and MVP BUILDING OH which had 2 and 21 MPN of Total
Coliform per 100 mL, respectively. In addition, the following samples
were observed for turbidity after the confirmatory test: Eliazo Cistern, Cervini Cistern, J/R OH, SDC Cistern, SEC A OH and Rockwell
OH-1. It is therefore recommended that the said cisterns and
overheads be cleaned AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as the turbidity could
be an indication of incipient growth of disease-causing microorganisms
which could pose a possible threat to public health."
Given the findings and recommendations, the cisterns
and overhead tanks mentioned above will be cleaned on:

Wednesday, 21 March |
