Situation Report (260307)

POWER: The problem with the Bellarmine generator is more complicated than expected. Repair is ongoing and the generator should be active before the summer registration.

The remaining wood pole and cross arm near Gate 1 is defective and will be replaced with a concrete pole and steel cross arm on Monday, 9 April. There will be a power outage in the Balara grid from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected units are:

1. Blue Eagle Gym
2. Grade School Complex
3. Henry Lee Irwin Theatre
4. Manila Observatory
5. Communication Arts Building
6. College Covered Courts
7. LS Swimming Pool
8. P.E. Department
9. Smart, Globe, Nextel, Digitel and Multi Media Telephony Inc.

COMMUNICATION: The PABX/CNG room is almost done, except for the section where the Internet Equipment Cabinet (IEC) is located.

1. View of the entrance to the CNG/PABX room. The gray steel door is across the steel door of the MIS office attached to Kostka Hall.
2. The CNG will install the IEC equipment in this area.
3. The other half is where the new PABX cabinets will be installed.
4. Yellow arrow indicates the temporary plywood wall separating the old section of the PABX room. Work on the old section of the PABX room will start after the summer registration.

WATER: Except for the SEC A overhead tank and Residence Hall cisterns, those recommended for cleaning were cleaned last week. The SEC A overhead tank will be cleaned after 4:00 p.m. today. The Cervini and Eliazo cisterns are scheduled for cleaning on Sunday, 1 April after the boarders have gone home.

Water samples from cisterns and overhead tanks already cleaned will be submitted to the Biology Department for analysis on 27 March.

TRAFFIC: At 10:30 a.m. last Thursday, 22 March, a van going to the High School along Fr. Masterson Drive caught fire. The driver stopped the van and located the fire under the engine. He tried to extinguish the fire using water and a rag. In the meantime, the High School boy and his mother left the vehicle.

Fortunately the incident was reported to the guards, who responded immediately as shown in the pictures below:

1. The van emitting smoke in front of the Church of the Gesu.
2. Security Detachment Commander Avelino R Guzilan rushed to the scene with a fire extinguisher from the Office of Administrative Services at Xavier Hall.
3. Comdr Guzilan directing the fire extinguisher foam below the engine compartment.
4. The van is inspected after the fire was extinguished

Senior Guard Supervisor Avelino R Guzilan is commended for his presence of mind and quick action in putting out the fire.
