Subject : Work from Home Arrangement for Employees Who Undergo Quarantine due to Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2/ COVID-19)
Following the advisory issued by the Office of the President of the University on the Novel Coronavirus (SARS-COV-2/COVID-19), an employee who needs to undergo quarantine must inform the University Physician through the Office of Human Resource Management and Organization Development (OHRMOD) by calling 8426-1245 or 8921-9724 or 8426-6001 loc. 4126 (look for Ms. Aileen Grace S. Demata).
In line with this, employees are advised to observe the following protocols:
Any University employee who is required by an appropriate agency of the government of the Republic of the Philippines to undergo quarantine procedures in a government facility, any other medical facility, or at home, must inform OHRMOD by email to hrmod@ateneo.edu or by phone call to any of the numbers above.
- An employee who must undergo quarantine procedures but does not manifest flu-like symptoms may request a work from home arrangement from their immediate supervisor. In such case, the immediate supervisor/office head must work out the schedule of deliverables of the employee on quarantine. Faculty members and professionals handling classes are encouraged to use online platforms to continue the delivery of learning to their students. If work from home arrangement is permissible, the employee shall then be advised by OHRMOD through email if the request will be granted.
- Employees on mandatory quarantine as required by the appropriate government agency and who are brought to a medical facility shall not be considered absent from work.
- For those who are quarantined in another country, as a result of a no-fly advisory, please inform your immediate supervisor/office head so that appropriate arrangements may be considered by the office.
- An employee who has close contact with any of the following shall undergo self-quarantine and can request a work from home arrangement from their immediate supervisor:
(i) a confirmed person infected with SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19;
(ii) a person with a history of travel to areas with travel restrictions (China and North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu City, and Cheongdo County in Korea) or with a high incidence of confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 infection in the 14 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms.
- Absences of employees on self-quarantine shall be charged to his/her emergency leaves. The balance shall be charged to vacation/sick leaves.
- Before an employee who went on mandatory or self-quarantine may report back to work, the employee must submit a fit-to-work certification from the medical officer/attending physician and present it to the University Physician who will issue the final clearance to return to work.
- Any employee who is made to undergo quarantine in a medical facility manifesting a fever or other symptoms of SARS-COV-2/COVID-19 must prioritize his/her health instead of work.
For your guidance and strict compliance.
