Research Associate for Climate Risk Assessment (Part-time Individual Contractor)
The Research Associate (RA) will conduct literature review, stakeholder consultations, and data collection and analysis relevant to assessing the University’s climate risk.
Specifically, the RA will:
- Work with the Program Manager and Program Officer of AIS-CDR in developing a risk assessment roadmap, which includes aligning opportunities for adaptation actions to the University policies and commitments and national climate plans, and outlining the methodology in carrying out the climate risk assessment;
- Scope literature on frameworks and methodology for and the current landscape of climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies in higher education institutions (HEIs);
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the exposure and vulnerability of the University population, facilities, operations, systems, and activities, and current adaptive capacity initiatives;
- Assist in the logistical and administrative arrangements for stakeholder consultations regarding climate adaptation strategies; and
- Write articles on the climate risk assessment process and technical reports on the assessment outcomes.
Description of Education, Competence, and Experience Required
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with work experience (e.g. Environmental Science, Disaster Risk and Resilience, Atmospheric Science, Sustainability); preferably a graduate of a Master’s degree in a relevant field
- With background in climate change and disaster risk reduction
- With research skills: literature review, data collection and analysis, reporting
- With good oral and written communication skills, including technical writing skills
- With good interpersonal skills
- A critical thinker and problem-solver who is open to learning new skills
- Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or their equivalent, Google Suite of applications, video teleconferencing platforms, and data analysis software

The Intern for Social Media and Science Communication will:
- Assist in creating science-based content for the AIS website and other social media platforms; and
- Assist in other science communication efforts of the Campus Sustainability Program.
The engagement will involve content planning, copywriting, and/or graphic design for tasks such as articles and social media posts. For samples of previous engagements with interns, please explore the Ateneo Insitute of Sustainability Facebook page.

2. Intern for Urban Biodiversity Research
Duration: 16 September 2022 – 16 December 2022
No. of vacant positions: One (1)
- Collect best practices in campus biodiversity conservation programs in universities;
- Assist in data collection and/or data processing in campus wildlife projects; and
- Assist in other campus wildlife efforts of the Campus Sustainability Program.
The engagement will involve online and onsite tasks.

Citizen Science with the Ateneo Wild
Be a citizen scientist! The Ateneo Wild is a citizen science program that promotes the importance of urban biodiversity and green spaces in making our cities healthy and beautiful. Through social media, guided nature walks, printed media, and other activities, The Ateneo Wild hopes to deepen the community's appreciation for nature in the city. You can contribute by submitting your Ateneo campus wildlife observations and documentation (photos, videos). Make sure you include the location, date and time, and any other observations relevant to your report.
