Abarquez places 3rd in UP Math Club’s first ever FAST tilt

Award-winning Ateneo de Manila Junior High School math wizard Lance Abarquez (La Storta/8-Delgado) emerged as the third-place winner of the first ever Fun Arithmetic Skills Test (FAST) competition, which was held online on May 15, 2021.  Organized by the UP Mathematics Club, the competition aimed to highlight the use of unconventional arithmetic methods such as (but not limited to) Vedic Mathematics Techniques in solving junior high school math problems more efficiently. Participating schools included Ateneo de Manila Junior High School, Lipa City Science Integrated National High School, Makati High School, Miriam College Nuvali, Philippine Cultural College Manila, Philippine Science High School Central Mindanao, Philippine Science High School MIMAROPA Region, Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science, Victorino Mapa High School, Saint Jude Catholic School, Shammah Christian School Inc., University of the Philippines Rural High School, and Yobhel Christian Academy, Inc.
