Mique Aguiluz tops UP STEM Coin Cradle Challenge

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students Mique Aguiluz (La Storta/10-Garnier) and Troy Rementina (Pamplona/10-Yuki) emerged as the 1st and 2nd place winners, respectively, of the SALA (STEM Appreciation for Lifelong Application) 2.0 Coin Cradle Challenge held on May 8, 2021. Organized by the UP College of Education Class of Educ 280, the competition was an asynchronous STEM challenge which tasked students to create an improvised cradle that could hold the most coins. The cradle had to be made of paper and supported by two hangers. Mique’s cradle was able to hold 375 coins, while Troy’s cradle was able to hold 300 coins.

Both Mique and Troy are awardees at the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School Closing Ceremony for the Class of 2021 to be held in June. Mique will receive the prestigious Lux in Domino award and the subject area award for Araling Panlipunan, while Troy will receive the subject area awards for Art and Computer Education.
