Three AJHS mathletes receive YES medals from DOST

Three AJHS mathletes- Jimbo Bernardo (La Storta/9-Fenwick), Brian Dela Cruz (La Storta/10-Ferreres), and John Paul Tee (Pamplona/8-Rubio)- each received the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) medal from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at an awards ceremony held last Feb. 14, 2019 at the PICC. The YES medal is given to students who have brought honor to the Philippines by winning gold, silver or bronze medals in various international Math and Science competitions throughout the year. 

Here are the some of the competitions they won medals for from April 2018 to December 2018:

Jimbo Bernardo: Gold, 2018 National Parallel Challenge for Future Mathematicians (CFM cluster); recipient of two High Distinction certificates (Mathematics, Science) from the University of New South Wales, Australia for the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS); Silver, World Mathematical Olympiad (WMO) Asian Finals; High Distinction awardee, Australian Mathematics Competition; Bronze, Ateneo Math Olympiad Written Round; First Place, Ateneo Math Olympiad Oral Round; Most Participative, Ateneo Math Olympiad; First Place, 2018 Math League; Silver, 2018 International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition; Silver, 2018 Southeast Asian Math Olympiad; Second Honors, 2018 Bebras International Challenge on Informatics and Computational Thinking; Top Scorer medalist, 2018 Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Young Mathematicians In-House Intensive Training Program; Highest Honors, 2018 Asian MathSci League Inc. Math Enrichment Program; Second Honors Merit Award, 2019 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC) Elimination Round
