Xavier Algenio wins bronze for PH in Vanda science tilt

Xavier Algenio of Montserrat/8-Isore won a bronze medal for the Philippines in the Grade 8 division of the Vanda International Science Competition, which was held online on September 5, 2020. Among hundreds of contestants from the Philippines, Xavier was ranked 13th. Among the thousands who competed from Asia, he was unofficially ranked 89th. This is the first time for Xavier to join the Vanda International Science Competition.  
Per the Vanda website, Vanda is a science competition held annually around the globe that focuses on students’ ability to think critically and creatively to pick out hidden information to aid them in solving the questions. Among the countries which participated in the competition were Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
