In this policy brief, the Ateneo de Manila University School of Social Sciences (SOSS) and the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) seek to contribute to ongoing public discourse by shedding additional light on issues and concerns over the proposed sovereign wealth fund.

The authors outline issues and concerns under Timing, Impact on Welfare Provision and Debt Repayment ; Assault on Institutions and Taxpayers ; Transparency and Accountability of Fund Governance; and Practical Issues.

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) and the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) recommend that the MWF bill be further reviewed given the current conditions of the country, still reeling from the negative effects of the pandemic, and the lack of any provision in the bill regarding direct benefits to citizens.
