The Office of the Vice President for Social Development is geared toward achieving greater cohesion in moving forward with the University’s strategic thrusts of nation-building and environment-and-development. The Office is tasked to lead in strengthening, aligning and consolidating existing and future efforts of students, faculty and other members of the Ateneo community in responding to social, political, environmental and overall national and local development concerns. It will strive to achieve greater impact of such efforts while attaining the sustainability of various existing University offices involved in the undertakings.
Rizalino P Rivera
Vice President
Rizalino P Rivera (HS'79) is the current Vice President for Social Development.
The development of people and systems has always been part of Rivera’s focus. He served as an advisor to several government agencies and local government units, such as BARMM, the OVP, Marikina, etc., while working as Vice President for Strategy and Execution of Directories Philippine Corporation (DPC). He was also Undersecretary for Governance and Operations of the Department of Education from 2010 to 2016 under the leadership of Br. Armin Luistro FSC.
Rivera is a Six Seconds-certified EQ practitioner and assessor, and is an expert in leading and managing change, strategic management, organizational development, and leadership development. Before joining the government, he was a consultant for various business corporations, government and non-government organizations in the country. He served as the Faculty Chair of the Human Resource Cluster of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in 2000–2009, and is a member of the Board’s Committee on Basic Education as well as the University Task Force on Anti-Violence.
