Scholarships and Financial Aid:
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question not answered here? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is the scholarship application process difficult?
Not at all! Just give yourself ample time to prepare your documents and make sure to fill out your form completely. Don't forget to read all the instructions, too!
What is your criteria in awarding a Financial Aid Scholarship to an applicant?
Financial Aid Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, consistent academic performance, intellectual ability, and potential for greater service.
How long will I have to wait for the scholarship results?
Scholarship application decisions will be released at the same time as the results of your application for admission.
What are the other benefits and services available for scholars in Ateneo?
Scholars may avail of the following benefits and services:
- Merical Subsidy
- Food Stubs
- Natural Calamity Assistance
- Bereavement Assistance
- Free Tutorial Services
- Individual Consultations and Guidance Counseling
- Thesis, Retreat, and Immersion Subsidy
- Conference or Competition Subsidy
Can I apply for other scholarships outside of Ateneo?
Yes! You may apply for other scholarships from an external source (e.g. DOST, GSIS, CHED, grants from private institutions, etc.) to finance your education in Ateneo or to supplement any scholarship that Ateneo may award to you. Please inform us through email as soon as possible about any scholarship grant/s you may receive from other institutions or foundations here and abroad. However, kindly note that your scholarship from Ateneo may be modified to provide support to other needy but deserving students in the instance that you receive a scholarship from an external source.
Is there an official organization for Ateneo Scholars?
Yes, there is! Ateneo Gabay is the scholars' organization and the Scholars Sectoral Board represents the scholars in the Ateneo’s Student Govenment. These two groups assist the Office of Admission and Aid in ensuring that the needs of all scholars are met.
Is it hard being a scholar in Ateneo?
While a few things are expected more from scholars, the support system given by the Loyola Schools Community and fellow scholars allows our students to adjust and cope with life in Ateneo.
Should I be awarded a scholarship, what are the grade requirements that I need to fulfill?
Since the Merit, Director's List and Academic Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s academic prowess, recipients of these scholarships must meet a higher grade requirement to be able to maintain their scholarships. On other hand, Financial Aid scholars must meet the University grade retention requirements and must not incur a grade of F or W in any semester of their stay in the University in order to maintain their scholarship. Additionally, they are required to do a minimum number of service hours.
Until when can I enjoy my Financial Aid Grant?
Financial Aid Scholars are required to renew their scholarship every year. If the scholar meets the grade retention requirements and there are no significant changes to the scholar’s family financial status, the scholarship will most likely be retained.
Will my scholarship be terminated if I fail a subject?
Yes, but Financial Aid scholars may appeal. Merit, Director's List, and Academic Scholars will automatically lose their scholarship if they get an F, W, or if they did not meet the yearly grade requirement. They may apply, however, for a Financial Aid Scholarship if the family is financially needy.
I'm still confused. Is there anyone I can talk to about my scholarship application?
If you have questions that haven’t been answered in this FAQ, you may reach us through email at email@example.com.
