Coastal Cities at Risk in The Philippines: Synthesis Report article image

As the problem of climate change grows more serious, the effect on the tropical storms in the Philippines also worsens with every year, causing flash floods and disasters to coastal areas, including Metro Manila.

In collaboration with the Manila Observatory, private non-stock, non-profit research institution and its scientists, the Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines project (CCARPH), an action project of the Ateneo de Manila University in cooperation with the National Resilience Council and support from the International Development Research Centre, aims to undertake new research on a transdisciplinary scale in order to build up capacity and strengthen public-private partnerships towards informing resilience planning of coastal cities. Through cooperation in resilience planning CCARPH seeks to adapt the cities for future disasters.
