Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings (Memo U2122-070)

Memo # U2122-070
4 May 2022

Memo to        :           The University Community

Subject           :           Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings

On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees, I wish to congratulate the University community for continuing to lead among Philippine universities in terms of real-world impact based on the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

This year, Ateneo de Manila jumped to the 101-200 bracket, the highest among the 15 Philippine institutions included in the rankings, with an overall score of 83.7 out of 100. It is also the highest overall placement of any Philippine institution since the Impact Rankings began. Last year, Ateneo was in the 201-300 bracket. The full rankings and methodology can be accessed at the THE website.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community and the different offices that provided their time and effort to gather the data and write up the reports submitted to THE.

We thank in a special way the Strategy and Quality Management Office (SQMO) led by its former Director Ms Tere Santos, the Office of the Vice President for Social Development (OVPSD) led by Mr Lino Rivera with the support of Ms Milet Tendero and Ms Michelle de Guzman, the Loyola Schools Quality Assurance Office (LSQA) led by Dr Ixie Alejo with the precious assistance of Dr Alma Salvador, the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) led by Dr Kendra Gotangco-Gonzales. We also extend our appreciation to Fr Joey Cruz SJ, Dr Randy Tuaño and the Higher Education Impact Rankings Committee members for their valuable support.

THE Impact Rankings align well with our identity and mission as a Filipino, Catholic, and Jesuit institution. With or without the Impact Rankings, the best measure of how we effect change is still the number of communities and lives we helped change for the better.

Let us celebrate this singular achievement with pride and hope. May it encourage us to continue our efforts in promoting and realizing the UN SDGs so that we can fulfill our mission to become a force for good at a time when the world needs it most.

Ad majorem Dei gloriam!

(Sgd) Roberto C Yap SJ
President

NEW FROM THE PRESS: The Collaborators, A Novel

Katrina Tuvera's "The Collaborators" examines various instances of collaboration and complicity in Philippine history, and is apt to question today’s social contract between people and their leaders, between the ruled and their rulers.
