Notice of revision of UREC SOPs and creation of new SOP (UREO Memo)

SUBJECT      :        Notice of revision of UREC SOPs and creation of new SOP


This is to inform the University community that the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) Loyola Schools Panel approved revisions in several of the UREC's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the creation of a new SOP during its plenary meeting last 11 May 2022. Revisions were made to the following SOPs:

  1. SOP 2 Management of Initial Submissions - removal of requirement of hard copies of submissions
  2. SOP 3.1 Review of Continuing Applications and Protocol Amendments -  removal of requirement of hard copies of submissions
  3. SOP 3.3 Review of Unanticipated Problems and Adverse Events -  removal of requirement of hard copies of submissions
  4. SOP 4.2 Expedited Review - inclusion of a policy imposing a strict time frame for principal investigator's response to reviewers' comments for the current submission
  5. SOP 4.3 Full Review - inclusion of a policy imposing a strict time frame for principal investigator's response to reviewers' comments for the current submission

SOP 3.4 Monitoring was created to provide guidelines on a Monitoring system, which assigns official Monitors to particular research projects that require close and regular observation for compliance with ethics guidelines and protocols approved by the UREC.

Please find attached herewith the most updated versions of these SOPs. These and the other SOPs are also available in the Downloads page of AIFIS.
