RE:
Mr Benjamin (Tiong Keng) Ching, 1943-2023

We extend our condolences to the family of Mr Benjamin (Tiong Keng) ‘Ben’ Ching (HS’61, BS’65 History and Government, LLB’69), who passed away on 27 July 2023.
Mr Ben, in his life, captured the fullness of the Ignatian values that Ateneo de Manila upholds. Jesuit-educated, Mr Ben believed in the transformative power of education, touching and changing the lives of many with limited access and resources by helping them with scholarships. Until his untimely demise, he was an enthusiastic benefactor of Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) and the Loyola Schools.
He served the University as a Trustee from 2005 to 2011. His generosity also helped fund the construction of the ASMPH building. He likewise donated towards the construction of several rooms in the Loyola Schools and Areté. Moreover, he supported the Food Augmentation Program spearheaded by the Ateneo Center for Educational Development. At the height of the pandemic, Mr Ben contributed to creating the Ateneo Molecular Pathology Laboratory (AMPLify), a diagnostic facility to help deal with the demand for RT-PCR testing.
We request the Ateneo community to keep Mr Ben, a true Atenean, and his family in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto Ben, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
