About the Lecturer:

Dr. Emman Delocado is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology. His research interests include beetle taxonomy, molecular systematics, biodiversity conservation, and education for sustainable development. He manages several projects at the Ateneo Biodiversity Research Laboratory, some of which received funding from the Ateneo Research Institute of Science and Engineering (ARISE) as well as from the Ateneo University Research Council (URC). His research projects focus on the discovery of new species of aquatic macroinvertebrates from freshwater bodies not just in the Philippines but throughout Southeast Asia. His most recent discoveries include the “Fr. Jett Beetle” (Byrrhinus villarini) and the “Angat Buhay Beetle” (Anacaena angatbuhay). He is actively involved in professional organizations serving as a board member of the Association of Systematic Biologists of the Philippines (ASBP) and conference co-chair of the upcoming Philippine Symposium on Freshwater Biodiversity and Ecosystems (PSFBE) which the Ateneo is hosting. Last year, his work was recognized by the Systematics Association based in London. Currently, he also serves as the Program Manager for Sustainable Development Goals at the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability and the Country Manager of Sustainable Development Solutions Network Philippines. With the discovery of more species, Dr. Delocado is bent on following the footsteps of Charles Darwin.

This session of the Lectures Series supports SDG #6 Clean water and sanitation, SDG#14 Life below water, and SDG#15 Life on land.
